Cellar for up to 9 years. Decant 2 hours before serving. Heady notes of sweet spices, tobacco, leather and blackcurrant jam dominate the nose of this gorgeous, deeply-coloured Côte Rotie. Deep dark berry and smoked meat flavours delight the palate along with supple tannins and a well-rounded full body. Thanks to the earthiness and power, this would be an exquisite pairing for venison, pheasant or a fine flank steak. While this is a very approachable wine to drink now, cellaring up until 2026 will further enhance and intensify La Divine’s beauty. One of Jean-Luc Colombo’s flagship wines, La Divine begins life in very steep south-east facing vineyards which are dominated by Syrah. After vinification the wine spends 18 months ageing in oak and is blended with 5% Viognier to add a balancing touch of freshness and finesse. Known as the “Winemaking Wizard of the Rhône”, Jean-Luc Colombo is famed for his original, inspiring wines originating from prime vineyard sites in the Rhône Valley. Since purchasing his first Rhône vineyard in Cornas in 1986, Jean-Luc and his wife Anne have lead the way in modernisation and innovation to create accessible wines which reflect the region’s unique terroir. Measures like destemming and limited oak influence have allowed the Colombos to craft wines which offer greater freshness and fruit while retaining their power and ageing potential.
